The partners we introduce

Two firms pass all five checks and are the introductions we make on order. Two more are shown because a client should know they exist: one is conflicted, one is a likely rival.

1. Arrow Oilfield Services

Guyanese-owned, certified, and already sells fire equipment to the oil industry. The natural home for your servicing and recertification work. The question to settle first: does its Kidde agreement stop it working with another fire brand or service firm?

Contact, from its certificate and website: arrowosi.com · Sales@arrowosi.com · +592 503 2445

2. Jaguar Oilfield Services and TOTALTEC

Jaguar already inspects and certifies equipment on FPSOs, and has the warehousing and quality systems SBM asks for. Fire would be a new line, not a conflict. TOTALTEC is reported as 100% Guyanese owned. Jaguar began in 2018 as a joint venture that included TOTALTEC and ProCom of Trinidad; its current owners are not confirmed. TO BE VERIFIED

3. Meridian 60 Offshore

Has done exactly this work for SBM. But it is a joint venture with K&D Pratt of Canada, which sells the same services as you, and it is not on the register today. Approach only if both points change.

4. IRP Fire and Safety Guyana

Its Trinidad parent is MSA's only authorised Caribbean distributor, and MSA announced on 5 May 2026 that it would buy Autronica, the detection brand MODEC named. IRP may be the natural route for that work and a competitor on SCBA. We did not find who owns the Guyanese company. Treat it as a rival until shown otherwise.

What this pattern means

These requests come back. SBM's notice says it uses the replies to build its list of qualified bidders, and it may split the work between several firms. A firm that misses the request stage can miss the tender.

03

The rules

1. For three of the four buyers, you need a certified Guyanese partner

The usual form is a representation agreement or a subcontract. The partner holds the certificate, the warehouse and the local paperwork. You bring the technical skill, the certified equipment and the trained team.

2. MODEC is the one direct route

You register on its vendor portal. MODEC's terms say it holds back 20% of each payment to a foreign firm that is not registered or resident in Guyana. The UK and Guyana have a tax treaty, in force since 1992. A UK tax adviser should confirm whether it lets you reclaim or avoid that 20%. TO BE VERIFIED

MODEC Guyana General Terms and Conditions, Rev 2, clause 29.3

3. The partnership must be real

Guyana's Local Content Secretariat is setting up a unit against "rent-a-citizen" fronts, where a Guyanese owner lends a name to a foreign firm and does no real work. That is why we check each partner's track record, premises and people, not just its certificate.

4. Local rules apply on board

MODEC asks that the team know Guyana's legislation as well as flag, port and class rules. A local partner covers part of this.

04

Set aside

Three certified firms front signs

Each holds a certificate. None has a website or a track record we could find. Addresses and phone numbers are partial, and each uses a Gmail address. One lists 13 unrelated sectors. We would not recommend any of them without a visit. Named in the paid report.

Two local fire firms onshore, no certificate

Both are real. Both work onshore and hold no certificate.

One certified supplier no fire expertise

Holds a certificate and a warehouse, but no fire expertise.

05

The first call

How the introduction is made

At the free check we sounded out Arrow and Jaguar without naming you. On order we send each one a named introduction by email, with a short note on your firm and a request for a call, and we copy you in. Three introductions are included; we introduce one foreign firm per partner per category at a time.

Questions for the first call

Does an existing brand agreement limit who you can work with? Who would hold the contract, and who would do the work offshore? What warehousing and offshore-trained staff do you have in Guyana today? Which fire-related requests have you answered, and with what result?

06

Your route

Before the next round of requests

Register on MODEC's vendor portal. Ask a UK tax adviser about the 20% withholding and the 1992 treaty. Decide whether a representation agreement or a subcontract suits you, and have the partner's certificate number ready for SBM's proof of partnership.
